Contract time

This week has seen Kyle take a positive step for the new season and his racing career. The Spanish legend Aspar Martinez and his 125 GP team asked him to ride one of the bikes in the CEV Spanish national championships 2008. Kyle has accepted this offer and signed a 5 year contract with ‘Circuit de la Comunitat Valencia’ who are the ruling body to the teams in the territory,  this years plan is also to offer him a ‘wild card’ ride in maybe two of the World MotoGP 125 rounds held in Spain if his national results are good.

This programme is designed to give him a direct route to MotoGP over a few years if success follows him. However, it’s great to see a large power in the sport have faith in him and his talent.

plus a lesser series called  ‘Championship Mediterranean’ which is another 7 national rounds which the team will run

Winter testing already starts next week !

Spanish CEV national championship in Valencia

After being invited to ride a CBR600RR Honda Supersport machine in the Spanish CEV national championship in Valencia, the Italian HP Racing team travelled a long way and provided some wonderfully prepared machines for the event,

Kyle surprisingly qualified 18th out of a 38 grid after a disastrous qualifying session. His first look at a race bike was only April this year and a race result of 21st pleased the team very much being his first major race on a new and different bike.

Disappointing Last Round

Kyle was in action this weekend at the final round of the Bancaja 125 pre-GP series an Albercete circuit.

Unfortunately scoring no points this time after crashing out mid race.  Qualifying on the front row again the race became a 3 man battle which left the rest of the field behind, fighting with the series leader ‘Menchen’ for half the race, Kyle was comfortable with his position the lead changed several times in what looked to be a good race but lost traction at a tight point of the circuit and he crashed out, this also lost him 3rd place in the championship.

However, still a great first season racing which has left two top team managers wanting him to ride there team next year.

An Aspar Martinez team manager wants Kyle to ride a full MotoGP 125 in the Spanish national championships, and Juan Borja wants him to run a 600 Supersport machine also in the national championships, both series have a round in Valencia on the 18th Nov. to which one of them he will ride ! Where he goes from there we don’t know, will keep you all up dated.

Win for Kyle

First National win for the little smart arse, Dry race, led every lap til he had a 7 sec gap and brought it home for his first win, everyone over there chuffed to bits, the press over there are bussing round him. This pushes him to 3rd in the championship.

Pelvis Injury Before the Season Starts.

This is due to Kyle unfortunately having an accident at the beginning of the season, after putting in some impressive times in pre-season practising he managed to break his pelvis in a pre-season test, this ruled him out for the first few races of the season in the Spanish CEV Championship.

Now at the half way point Kyle has made a full recovery and is back on the pace, his first race back was held at Jerez he managed to finish mid field and the last race out was Albercete where he finished ninth and his fitness seems to be improving all the time.

The Aspar 125 team are still delighted with his progress and his lap times and they are happy to see him finishing races and gain valuable track time experience.

It’s Summer break just now and the next race is mid September at the circuit Albercete again, the rest of the seasons race meetings are in the attached link below and I will post an update at that time.

New National Race Series for Kyle

Sorry for the delay in news with Kyle's racing progress. an unsure start to the season was part reason, however the story goes:

Team Aspar excluded Kyle from the CEV national team due to the countries credit crunch like ours, also a crash and injury filled season didn't help, so a race series was needed.

His manager Juan Borga chose the Ninja Cup. Kawasaki 600's racing in a national series along the CEV. A lesser series but still a recognised class.

Race 1 was at Albacete and only receiving the bike 2 days before Kyle managed a 5th place result.

Race 2, Jerez southern Spain. Kyle got an unmistakable clear win delighting the team and surprising the competition.

Race 3, Valencia, and another win with a lead of 10 seconds. things looking up.

Next round September.

Team boss Juan is negotiating a ride in the last round of the European super-stock 600 race in Portugal to raise his profile.

Ninja Cup Spanish Championship Success for Kyle

Kyle brought his Kawasaki 600 to another impressive win at the last round in Valencia, not just a good day for a win but he has also won the Spanish national Ninja Cup Championship. The October round at Catalonia saw Kyle elbowed off the track only to pull back from 11th place to finish 4th. that disappointing weekend had no effect on his performance in Valencia (last race of the season) where he took control from the start like he had in two previous races and with a 7 second lead paced him self perfectly and took the 2009 championship. This opens up some nice opportunities for next year with 3 offers for national status rides next season, more news to follow.
