CIA Landlord Insurance Honda’s Kyle Smith finished a solid third in the World Supersport race at Jerez today. Kyle had been on the pace all weekend at the Spanish circuit. He started well from the second row of the grid and quickly established himself with the leading trio of Sofuoglu, Krummenacher and Tuuli. After Krummenacher crashed out Kyle was challenging Tuuli for second place but as his grip dropped he crossed the line in third.
Kyle said: “It’s been a positive weekend from the word go. We made some changes at the last round which have opened a few windows. I’ve been top five in most sessions and in the race I just put my head down and tried to stay with Kenan and Tuuli at the front. At one point they broke away and I clawed my way back. I thought I had the pace to do even better than third but then the tyres dropped off a bit, mainly the front tyre and to hold the pace I was really on the edge. It was more important to me to finish in the top five so I settled for third. Good result. Happy.”
